Aragonese Jar
Aragonese Jar
An extraordinary earthenware jar from the Aragonese countryside, probably from Lower Aragon or the province of Teruel, dating from the late 19th century. This unique piece stands out not only for its striking formal beauty and natural earthy patina, but also for the fascinating story etched into its surface: an old repair made with metal staples, a living testament to a time when objects were not discarded, but rather cared for and repaired.
The handcrafted "stitching," visible in the upper third, was applied to extend the lifespan of highly valued earthenware jars, transforming function into aesthetics. Its truncated conical silhouette, with austere lines and sober proportions, makes it a ceramic sculpture that transcends its original use.
Ideal as a decorative piece in spaces that appreciate the authentic, the imperfect and the soulful: from contemporary wabi-sabi to rustic or Mediterranean interiors with character.
