Zamorana Jar
Zamorana Jar
An imposing traditional earthenware jar from the heart of Castile, handcrafted on a potter's wheel in the late 19th century. Its generous silhouette, with simple lines and balanced proportions, makes it a sculptural piece of great decorative presence.
Modeled in unglazed terracotta, it displays a beautiful natural patina resulting from the passage of time and its original agricultural use. The subtle dark shading at the base is a notable feature, the result of firing in a wood-fired kiln in a reducing atmosphere, a technique characteristic of rural pottery from Zamora. The incised border on the shoulder adds a subtle ornamental touch without compromising the formal austerity that defines these pieces.
Originally conceived for the storage of liquids or grain, today this jar is transformed into an element full of soul and memory, perfect for giving character to contemporary interiors or interior design projects with rustic and authentic sensibility.
